storage and viability of spermatozoa. erythrocytes, skin, cornea and endocrine glands. However, the basic principle of arresting the processes of aging and degeneration by anabiosis forms a main theme of the volume. The chapter on the revival of mammals from below zero temperatures is quite well done. The last chapter on the effects of subzero temperatures on animal cells and tissues is sadly quite deficient. Much of the work concerning freeze drying and freeze substitution is neglected and the most outstanding works on the use of freezing as a preparative means for electron microscopy are not referred to at all.

Effect of prenatal immobilization stress on spatial memory, anxiety-like behavior and brain BDNF concentration in the F1 generation male mice
Background and Aim: In this study, we investigated the effect of immobilization stress during pregnancy on the spatial memory, anxiety-like behavior and brain BDNF level in F1 generation male NMRI mice. Materials and Methods: Twenty female pregnant mice were randomly divided into stress and control groups. The stress group received stress using a restraint cylinder (6 cm ID, 20 cm L) 60 min/da...

متن کاملSocial life, evolution of intelligence, behaviour and human brain size
Social life is one of the most critical factors of the evolution of the behavior of non-human primates and humans. Several factors, such as an increase in brain size, adaptive modules, and grooming, are related to the complexities of social groups. Although some scientists have mentioned foraging as a rival hypothesis for the evolution of behavior, in this research, we tried to investigate the ...
